We deliver the graphene solutionThe RoleAs a Photonic Component and Circuit Designer (f/m/d), you will play a key role in the design and simulation of high-speed WDM/DWDM optical transceiver systems and bridging component-level photonic design with system-level architecture. You will be responsible for developing integrated solutions optimizing system performance To join our team, you should be excited toDesign and benchmark passive low-loss components for WDM systemsDevelop active graphene-based components Run photonic circuit-level simulations to optimize device performanceApply fabrication-tolerant design optimization strategiesDesign test structures and implement design-for-test (DFT) methodsPerform component and circuit layoutingDeliver PDK-ready components to support scalable integrationYour QualificationsM.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field3+ years of experience in integrated photonics device physics and modelingExperience in design, simulation, analysis, and optimization of low-loss passive (and ideally active) componentsProven record of developing devices that perform within specificationsExperience in test structure developmentBackground in integrated photonics platforms (ideally SiN)Proficiency with Lumerical products (Mode, FDTD, Interconnect)Programming skills in Python and familiarity with GitFamiliarity with multiplexing devices (CMZI, AWG, ring resonators, MUX) is good to haveKnowledge of optical link/circuit simulation is good to haveExposure to DFM, electronic-photonic co-design, and compact model generation is good to haveExperience with PDK building block development is good to haveProficiency with layout tools (gdsfactory, Nazca, OptoDesigner) is nice to haveHands-on lab experience in photonic device characterization is nice to haveOur work culturePeople Over Processes. At Black Semiconductor, flexibility is key—we ensure work adapts to life, not the other way around.
