JOB SUMMARYThis is an application and technical sales support position for our Particle Instrument product line. The Application Engineer provides high-level application support, including pre-sales visits and/or demonstrations, as well as post-sales activities mainly across Europe, but also in the Middle East and Africa region. Under the supervision of the Senior Application Engineer, the Application Engineer works closely with our R&A Sales Specialists. The role includes supporting technical and application trainings for our customers, channel partners and TSI staff. Candidates should have knowledge of measurement technologies and key applications in the field of aerosol particle research. A dedicated on-boarding process and support from a team of experienced Application Engineers and R&A Sales Specialists will enable the candidate to learn about all aspects of that role. This position includes frequent travel to both end-users and channel partners as well as events like conferences, seminars or trade shows. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Interfaces with end customers, channel partners and R&A Sales Specialists to respond to technical inquiries and provide appropriate application support. Technical support will include phone support, electronic correspondence and on-site visits. Hands-on use of instrument hardware and software. Setting up and performing laboratory experiments and/or product demonstrations to validate feasibility. Uncovers customer needs, application requirements and assists with proposal development. Supports technical and product presentations onsite for end customers or during exhibitions and workshops. Attends appropriate conferences and trade shows to present papers, and supports TSI seminars and webinars. Performs instrument and system installations/start-ups and trains new users. Acts as a resource to deliver product, application and technical training to TSI staff and channel partners. Also contributes to the development and maintenance of training materials and sales collateral, including application notes. Completes other assignments and special projects as requested. These activities can take place internally , with engineering and marketing for VOC or externally in technical committees, working groups or aerosol technology related projects. Travels as required to meet with existing customers, new prospects and channel partners within the entire territory. Support of activities in the Aachen application laboratory which include instrument demonstrations, evaluation of novel TSI instrumentation, SI demo instrument pool support, advanced troubleshooting, cooperation with technical support and service. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: Required in technical engineering discipline or equivalent technical university degree in chemistry, physics, environmental subjects or similar. Desired in relevant subject beneficial. Experience: Required Background in aerosol particle research. Desired Field experience and specifically experience in high-level Technical Sales Support is a plus but not a necessity. Core Competencies: Ability to assess technical needs/application requirements, formulate solutions, and present them effectively and persuasively. Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills including technical presentations. Above average analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills. Fluent in German and English, both verbal and written. Proficiency with the MS Office application software suite. Programming skills and data evaluation experience are a plus. Location: The Application Engineer works under close supervision of the Senior Application Engineer and collaborates closely with TechSupport and key staff at TSI’s European headquarters. Therefore this position is located in Aachen.
