Technical Lead – Pattern Library

This is the job As a Technical Lead – Pattern Library (f/m/x) - German speaking, you’ll join a long-term Avenga project for a banking client. Your mission: maintain, extend, and continuously evolve a pattern library system built with HTML, CSS, and TypeScript. The library supports scalable, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces across multiple products and teams. You’ll work closely with engineering, design, and product stakeholders to align technical strategy with business and design goals. The role is full-time, remote-friendly, and based in Germany. This is you You speak German at a native level and have at least upper-intermediate English skills. You bring 6+ years of experience in front-end engineering with a strong focus on scalable UI architecture and design systems. You have deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript (especially DOM manipulation), SCSS/CSS (BEM), and HTML. You’re experienced with theming methods and design tokens (e.g., Style Dictionary), and template languages like Handlebars. You’re confident with front-end build systems (Webpack), testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest, Cypress), and CI/CD pipelines. You understand accessibility (WCAG), performance optimization, and responsive design—and know how to deliver on them. You’re familiar with Figma (Developer Mode) and cross-browser/mobile testing, and you enjoy mentoring developers and coordinating technical roadmaps. This is your role You define and evolve the technical strategy for the pattern library in alignment with product and design system goals. You will be self responsible for the development, documentation, and maintenance of reusable UI components, tokens, and utilities. You implement governance models, contribution workflows, and release processes for components to ensure scalability across products and teams. You promote code quality, testing standards, and performance best practices, fostering a culture of technical excellence. You collaborate with designers to translate design tokens, Figma libraries, and accessibility requirements into production-ready code. You support product managers and stakeholders in balancing innovation with stability, acting as a trusted advisor during onboarding and adoption. You evaluate and integrate modern front-end tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite, Storybook), advocate for accessibility and internationalisation, and monitor industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
