RINA is currently recruiting for a Germany Senior Safety Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Hamburg within the North Europe Marine Division.MissionThis role focuses on performing detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are met Projects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts. #LI-PV1Key Accountabilities Review and approve drawings of safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment on ships, offshore units, and marine equipment, in compliance with Class Rules and Statutory Regulations, for new buildings, ships in service, and ship’s conversions. Assist clients during the design and construction phase, providing guidance and support related to safety, fire protection, and lifesaving equipment. Resolve issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards. Perform assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements. Oversee and manage day-to-day project elements, visit sites to take measurements. Ensure correct and up-to-date data is used and complete documentation is submitted to officials and other day-to-day duties. Review the project deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc.). Review progress reports and take appropriate action to ensure requirements are met. Take ownership and responsibility over the financial progress of assigned tasks. Understand and apply project management concepts providing feedback to project manager, serve as reference for the escalation of issues. Manage simple and complex projects assigned applying project management concepts and techniques. Assess complex structural problems for internal/external clients to determine solutions. Answer complex contractor questions on behalf of the supervising engineer, and serve as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel. Education Master’s Degree in Naval EngineeringQualifications Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety engineering, with a focus on ship safety, risk assessment, and compliance within a Class Society or maritime industry. Proven track record in reviewing and approving safety plans, safety management systems, and risk assessments for vessels. Experience with international safety regulations and standards, such as SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and ISPS Code, as well as Class Society rules related to safety plan approval. Hands-on experience in risk analysis, hazard identification, safety system design, and emergency response procedures in marine environments.
