In this highly impactful role, you’ll lay the foundation for a scalable, resilient, and forward-looking UI component library built on React. You’ll take ownership of the design system’s architecture, maintenance, and strategic direction, shaping both its technical and cultural evolution. Your work will bridge the gap between design and development: you’ll collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams within and beyond our organization to foster an open, inclusive, and collaborative design culture. The Software Factory is secunet’s innovation program, designed to provide the technical means to develop entirely new product classes. Technologies we Use React is our UI home base, other UI frameworks are welcome Nix is the glue that keeps all our software together CSS, JS/TS, HTML Figma GitLab Responsibilities Build and maintain the core infrastructure of our Design System Develop a sustainable architecture for React-based UI components (HTML, CSS, JS/TS). Collaborate with design teams to identify needs early and deliver consistent solutions. Foster a collaborative, Open Source-inspired culture around the Design System. Contribute to the long-term strategy and support the launch of new initiatives. Researching emerging UI trends to keep the framework future ready. Align priorities across teams and moderate between different needs Your Profile Extensive experience in frontend development Experience with UI components and design systems Passion for clean, reusable, and well-documented UI components Background in maintainer ship and a strong affinity for open-source collaboration Excellent communication skills to align needs and co-create solutions Strategic mindset and interest in sustainable technology design Comfortable working across disciplines – from design to development to product Familiarity with the German language, while not strictly required, is an advantage Bonus Points Experience with design tokens and maintaining component libraries Familiarity with Figma and close collaboration with designers Knowledge of Nix build system is a plus – willingness to learn is expected Why secunet?
