Counseling Center Manager

MAJOR FUNCTION : The Counseling Center Manager reports to the Dean of Student Services and will provide management and leadership of the Counseling Center. The Counseling Center Manager assists in overseeing professional standards and clinical practice of the Counseling Center while still providing direct counseling to College students. This position also contributes to the overall success of the department by performing all essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.The Manager manages the operation and function of the TCC Counseling Center. Manages, supervises and evaluates Professional Counselor/s, OPS staff, and interns providing services at the Counseling Center. The Counseling Center Manager will provide counseling and mental health services to students enrolled at TCC. Services may include but are not limited to: assessment; individual and group counseling; brief solution-focused support; trauma response; crisis intervention; advocacy; outreach and psycho education; referral services; liaison activities; consultation with faculty, staff, families, and others regarding mental health related issues and management of students with mental health needs.The Manager will provide training, programming and educational resources to the campus community, including action planning and prevention services.Collaborates with the Dean of Student Services for strategic planning. Submits strategic plans, assessment and budget documentation as directed. The Manager is responsible for maintaining budget and appropriate expenditures per Department of Student Services and TCC policy and procedures. Serve on a variety of college committees, and coordinate other counselor’s participation on college committees. Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field and four (4) years of related experience. A doctorate in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. Incumbent must possess State of Florida licensure: Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Clinical/Professional Counselor (LCPC or LPC). Crisis intervention experience. Preference given for supervisory experience, crisis intervention experience. Experience working in a college counseling center is also preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of TCC policy and procedures. Knowledge of group counseling. Knowledge of crisis intervention. Knowledge of best practices in mental health services, student development and retention. Knowledge of program assessment. Knowledge of TCC graduation requirements and university transfer information and/or career placement. Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and ability to deal with stressful situations. Knowledge of local outreach services. Knowledge of Microsoft software and experience working with a student records system. Skill, accuracy and speed using a personal computer. Ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality, listen well with strong communication skills. Ability to travel in the tri-county area. Ability to advise students in career and educational planning. Ability to plan and implement intervention strategies for students academically at-risk. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with a diverse population. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to lead student counseling groups.
