At the Jena Research Center – Advanced Optics Laboratory we are seeking a talented intern with expertise in deep learning to contribute to 3D display system applications.Join us as aIntern - Deep Learning for 3D Display Systems (m/f/d)Your mission Perform research and develop algorithmic techniques in deep learning and computational imaging for next-generation 3D display systems. Design and optimize projection and rendering algorithms to enable real-time performance, reduce artifacts, and enhance spatial resolution and visual quality. Analyze application requirements, design software and algorithmic solutions, and carry out simulation and proof-of-concept prototyping. Explore and evaluate state-of-the-art methods in computational display and related fields by tracking top-level publications, conducting patent research, and analyzing industry trends to identify promising directions for innovation. Extensive interaction and close collaboration with team members and cross-functional partners, combining from both research and industry to achieve project goals. Your areas of expertise Currently enrolled as a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. student in optics, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Proven experiences in development of deep learning models. Strong theoretical and practical background in signal processing, image processing, and/or 3D computer vision. Advanced programming skills in Python, and hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Familiarity with 3D display technologies and transformer-based deep learning is preferred. Experience with AI model deployment on computationally limited physical hardware is a plus. Excellent abilities in problem identification, analysis and solving, and systematic and goal-oriented work approach.
