For the expansion of our German commercial legal team, argenx is looking for a Legal Counsel Germany.PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTIONWe are looking for a Legal Counsel Germany, to support the rapid growth of our German business. While the focus is primarily on Legal matters, there is the possibility to support local Compliance topics. Additionally, the role will also be the legal business partner for global and regional commercialization teams. The successful candidate should have subject matter expertise that is relevant for the company globally and will have also the opportunity to be involved in projects outside of Germany. The role will operationally be managed by and primarily work with the Legal Lead for Germany, while at this stage formally reporting to the Head of Legal GER & DM.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Legal Counsel Germany will be part of the global Legal Compliance and IP (LCIP) team and a key member of the global and GER & Developed Markets commercial law team as well as of the German country business team. This role serves as a close business partner and facilitator of the business activities and is expected to contribute to help build and grow the business. The Legal Counsel Germany will play a critical role across the product life cycle and will be a key advisor and enabler of successful product launches and commercialization at a global, regional and country level. The role will partner closely with colleagues across functions within Germany, the Global Commercialization Community and with the Compliance and Legal team across the globe. In close collaboration with Legal colleagues, this role is responsible for high quality and timely guidance in all areas of the business, including medical, commercial, market access, regulatory, and distribution and will have subject matter expertise in areas such as promotion, market access, commercial contracting, competition law, as well as other areas of drug commercialization. The role will actively lead and contribute to legal projects, issues, and priorities across the global Legal and Compliance function.Your primary areas of focus are:Represent Legal as a strong business partner that helps build a strong and sustainable business and enables risk-appropriate decision-makingProvide strategic, tactical and operational legal and business insight on the commercial launch of argenx product candidatesAdvise on programs, initiatives, engagements, and materials, related to sales, marketing, market access, non-promotional education activities, patient engagement and scientific exchangeIdentify training needs within the organization and develop and present training sessions on relevant laws and legal/business issuesStay abreast of and communicate to the organization all significant pending and actual decisions, legislation or related developments that may affect the companyProvide advice and legal support on application and maintenance of all authorizations, permits, licenses and communication needed for local operations, including distribution and marketing of productsAssess, supervise and manage external legal counsel as appropriate and in line with available budgetsClosely coordinate with argenx Compliance colleaguesOther duties as assignedSKILLS AND COMPETENCIESBroad based knowledge of general commercial law and regulatory law impacting the pharmaceutical industryFirst-rate judgment and business acumen, including understanding of business strategy and operationsFluent in German and English; other language skills preferredExperience in specialty markets, particularly rare diseases, preferredHighly analytical; uses data to support decisions; can clearly communicate complex ideas in a simple way to diverse audiencesAbility to work collaboratively and effectively together within cross-functional teams and networksDemonstrated communication skills, within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual global environmentIs agile and demonstrates adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, trust-building, and resilienceDerives energy from operating in a dynamic, complex, fast-moving, and frequently changing business environmentDemonstrable experience with project management, proactive planning, priority setting, and securing alignmentDrives toward outcomesAmbitious, inquisitive naturally, a quick study, with demonstrated eagerness to continuously learn, self-improve and develop.
