ABOUT USAt tozero, we are building Europe’s first industrial-scale battery recycling plant to regenerate critical raw materials like lithium and graphite. Our mission: truly bring lithium-ion battery waste to zero. We’ve proven our tech in the lab, scaled it in our pilot, and are now constructing our first-of-a-kind (FOAK) commercial demonstration plant. Now, we’re scaling our team and we’re looking for a Finance Controller who can drive finance excellence as we industrialize.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORAs Finance Controller, you will be a key enabler of tozero’s success by ensuring financial excellence across operations, compliance, and growth initiatives. You’ll work closely with our CEO and cross-functional teams to bring clarity, discipline, and structure into a scaling environment.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECTAs Finance Controllerat tozero, you’ll be at the heart of our scale-up journey, ensuring financial rigor, operational excellence, and investor confidence as we expand. You will:Finance Operations & ReportingOwn day-to-day finance operations: AP/AR, bookkeeping, and cash management.Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax, and regulatory requirements.Controlling & ForecastingDrive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across all departments.Build dashboards and financial models that give management and investors clear insights.Monitor KPIs and deliver actionable recommendations to leadership.Fundraising & Investor RelationsSupport financing rounds and non-dilutive funding applications (grants, loans).Prepare investor-ready reports, presentations, and financial data packs.Partner with our CEO and leadership team to ensure investor trust through transparency and excellence.Process & Systems ExcellenceImplement efficient financial processes and internal controls as we scale.Drive automation and digitalization of finance workflows.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Ops, Commercial, Tech, HR) to align financial processes with company growth.Monitor KPIs and identify cost-saving opportunities.Your profileExcellent communication skills in English and German.Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.3-5 years of experience in finance, controlling, or accounting (startup/scale-up or consulting is a plus).Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate numbers into business insights.Hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented, but comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment.A team player with a “builder mindset”, eager to shape world-class financial processes from the ground up.Why us?Be part of a fast-scaling deeptech startup solving one of Europe’s most urgent challenges: building Europe’s critical raw material independence.Work alongside ambitious, international rockstars who hustle with speed and purpose.Shape the finance backbone of a scaling deeptech company.Work side by side with founders & leadership.Competitive package + VSOP (virtual stock options).A fast-learning curve and opportunity to grow into senior finance roles.A culture of ownership, resilience, and impact.About usWelcome to tozero, Europe's leading deep-tech startup in the recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
