The R&D department of the decarbonization unit is at the forefront of reducing energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions. With the ambitious goal of achieving GHG neutrality by 2050, the department leads pioneering efforts in sus-tainability within the marine industry. The team showcases innovative technolo-gies through lighthouse projects on board the fleet, setting benchmarks for the industry.The R&D department proposes a thesis evaluating the:Technoeconomic potential of green power generation by running auxiliary boilers on innovative and waste stream residual fuelsYour ProfileMaster's program in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Energy Systems, Environmental Engineering, or Sustainable Maritime OperationsAbility to conduct technoeconomic assessments, system modeling, and qualitative interviews (e.g., ship crew, suppliers)Fundamentals of steam systems, auxiliary boilers, and marine propulsionUnderstanding of alternative fuels (e.g., biofuels, synthetic fuels, waste-derived fuels)Familiarity with waste heat recovery systems and energy integrationProficiency in simulation toolsAbility to use CAD tools for layout and arrangement analysisData analysis using Excel, Python, or equivalentTopic must be approved by your academic supervisor and align with your universitys research guidelinesWe Offer30 days of holidays per year Flexible working hours & the possibility to work from home for up to three days per week, providing a healthy work-life balance and increased convenienceThe flexibility of working remotely for up to 10 days a year across EuropeThe opportunity to work with international experts from more than 40 nationalities in a dynamic and vibrant team, fostering a working environment that promotes Speaking Up, Respecting and Protecting, Improving, Communicating, Listening, Learning, and Empowerment.
