With over 200,000 employees, Huawei is committed to develop the future information society and build a Better-Connected World.Huawei's Jena Research Center is responsible for advanced technology research and architectural development of optics-related products.In the Jena Research Center – Automotive Optics Team we are now looking for a:PhD Student in Optical Modeling Research (m/f/d)Your mission Perform literature analysis and technical insight to identify the challenge and future trend of optical modeling. Research and develop ray tracing and physic optical propagation algorithm, and compare with commercial software to verify the modeling accuracy. Exploring cross-disciplinary or cross-scale modeling solution for opto-mechanical-thermal joint design or geometric-diffraction joint design. Exploring AI assisted optical design method and conduct proof of concept to verify the feasibility. Attend top-tier academic conferences and exhibitions to exchange mind, help to identify future trend and directions for optical modeling. Your areas of expertise Master in optics, CS, AI, mathematics, or other related disciplines, deep understanding of Maxwell's equations, strong knowledge in light propagation theory. Programming skills like Python and/or MATLAB, experience on optical design and simulation software like Zemax, LightTools, CodeV, VirtualLab etc. could be a plus. Passionate about innovations and technology in optical modeling, and strong willingness to learn cross-disciplinary knowledge. Fluent in English (written and oral) and open to cooperation and to work in a team with multiple cultural backgrounds collaboration.
