Systems Control Technician

OverviewSystems Control/Tech Control Technicians operate, monitor, secure and control the physical, data link, network and transport layers of the network, perform Circuit Restoration actions, and apply Quality Control and Performance Standards.Applies subject matter knowledge to high level analysis, collection, assessment, design, development, modeling, simulation, integration, installation, documentation, and implementation. Analyzes network characteristics (., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput) and recommends procurement, removals, and modifications to network components. Designs and optimizes network topologies and site configurations. Plans installations, transitions, and cutovers of network components and capabilities. Coordinates requirements with users and suppliers.This position has full logistical support for the employee and eligible dependents to include a relocation package under TESA (Technical Expert status with SOFA). The individual is NOT “ordinarily resident” ResponsibilitiesSystems Control/Tech-Control Technicians perform Circuit Management actions, accomplish established reporting, tracking, and monitoring procedures, perform trend analysis, Systems Control/Tech-Control Technicians request and schedule Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) and maintain a Master Station Log.They perform Node Site Coordinator duties to DISA and perform Circuit Actions as required.Systems Control/Tech-Control Technicians perform Facility Circuit Information Tracking (FACIT) Database Administration duties and key/rekey COMSEC devices.They provide Information Technology Services Management (ITSM) support, to include Incident/Problem, Change, Service Request and Knowledge Management support.Provides support for Systems Notices, Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI), and scheduled/unscheduled outages. QualificationsExperience:Specialized experience in one of the following:Communications software, communications hardware or network specialty. General experience includes all aspects of communication networks. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently or under only general direction.Communications Hardware specialized experience includes installing, testing, and operating network and computer (host) communications equipment (., switches, modems, controllers, terminals, and multiplexers): using and implementing communications hardware and electrical standards, using communications hardware test and monitoring equipment and analyzing the results.Communications Software specialized experience includes developing, testing, installing, and operating network and computer (host) communications software (. access method and protocol software, application interfaces, transaction processors, and emulators); using and implementing communications standards.Network specialized experience includes designing, testing, installing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks; using and implementing network standards, identification and solution of problems, restart/recovery, additions, deletions, and modifications of terminals, hosts, etc., optimization of network costs and performance and implementing accounting and charge back systems.Education:A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of recent specialized experience; orAssociates Degree and seven (7) years of recent specialized experience; orNo degree and 11 years or recent specialized experience.Certification:Systems Control/Tech-Control Technicians possess and maintain DoDD 8570.01M/DoDD 8140 IAT II certification, as well as appropriate computing environment certifications.At V2X, we are deeply committed to both equal employment opportunity, including protection for Veterans and individuals with disabilities, and fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
