The Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT) researches and develops new immunotherapies for the treatment of tumors, autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.For the NGS and Data Technologies Core Facility at the Leibniz Institute of Immunotherapy we are looking for aLinux IT System Administrator (m/f/d) - MRfull-time (40.1 hours per week, part-time possible), initially limited to two years with the possibility of further employment.Main tasksThe Linux environment (Scientific Computing Infrastructure) is embedded in the central IT infrastructure of the LIT, which is operated by an in-house IT administrator together with an external service provider.The tasks of the Linux IT system administrator includeAdministration and conceptual development of the scientific computing infrastructure at LITPlanning and rolling out patches, upgrades and configuration adjustmentsMonitoring, early detection and elimination of faults as well as error and performance analysesSetup and operation of various server applications, virtual machines and container-based applicationsInstallation, maintenance and administration of Linux workstationsSupport of bioinformatics software packages for the evaluation of analysis data and the associated laboratory information systems with web applicationTechnical documentation and management of existing software and hardware, Linux IT infrastructure and IT processes (Linux clusters and PCs)IT-side support for research and development projectsEnsuring IT and data security in collaboration with the service providerClose cooperation with IT, e.g. vacation replacement in 1st / 2nd level user supportRequirementsSuccessfully completed (technical) university degree in computer science, physics or mathematics or completed training as an IT specialist or a comparable qualificationVery good knowledge of Debian/Ubuntu or other Linux derivatives in corporate use, common container technologies and backup systemsExperience in system hardening, use of mandatory access control frameworks (e.g. AppArmor, SELinux) and rights management using access control lists (ACLs)Basic knowledge of orchestration tools such as Ansible or PuppetTechnical aptitude, reliability, proactive approach and sense of responsibilityWillingness to familiarize yourself with new technologiesGood written and spoken German or English skillsDesirableBasic knowledge in the administration of Kubernetes and Slurm clustersSeveral years of professional experience in Linux system administrationKnowledge of data security, databases and storage technologiesWe offerResponsible and varied field of activityThorough inductionFlat hierarchies and short decision-making processesA highly motivated and collegial teamExcellent professional and personal developmentFlexible working hours to reconcile family and careerCompany pension scheme (VBL)Annual special paymentCapital-forming benefitsJob ticket and much moreRemuneration is according to TV-L.The LIT is particularly committed to the compatibility of family and career.Severely disabled persons (m/f/d) will be given preference if they are otherwise equally qualified.
