Our client’s objective is to build the first commercially viable fusion power plant to ensure a sustainable and affordable energy supply across Europe. To support their mission and deliver on this objective, the business requires a Neutronics Expert to coordinate the in-house development of the neutronics calculation approach. Your Responsibilities:
Manage the company neutronics approach to meet the requirements of a commercially viable fusion power plant design.
Establish workable approaches to calculate neutron specific loading conditions on
In-Vessel components, taking account of engineering and physics requirements needed to allow regulatory compliance.
Integrate Fusion neutron impact in the plant design process.
Define approaches to minimise neutron loading in VV/Magnets.
Define requirements on In-Vessel components resulting from these approaches.
Your Skills:
Degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field – PhD. preferred.
Must have hands-on experience with Nuclear / Neutron Codes such as OpenMC / MCNP.
Experience with Neutronics Calculation Workflows
Competent user of CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
Proficiency in neutronics analysis.
Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines as part of the analysis of various components.
Strong understanding of Engineering Physics.
Previous experience of delivering large scientific or industrial projects.
Experience solving complex engineering problems in a scientific environment.
Be passionate about fusion with the ability to think outside the box and constantly challenging existing approaches to high-risk transformational technologies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines.
