Aviation Underwriter Team Lead

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct risk assessments and premium calculations, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with policies and supplements.
  • Coordinate with the EMEA Regional Office, presenting special topics and proposing solutions as needed.
  • Negotiate offers within authorities' scope, ensuring timely and effective execution.
  • Prepare and input data, performing quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop individual coverage concepts for unique risks, leveraging expertise and market knowledge.
  • Maintain contracts, renewals, and negotiations, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor market developments, identifying sales opportunities and new target groups.
  • Drive product development, staying ahead of industry trends and customer needs.
  • Deliver presentations to brokers and customers on specialist topics, individual insurance programs, and AIG capabilities.
  • Supervise broker connections and visits, ensuring effective relationships and customer support.
  • Collaborate with the Distribution team and sales offices, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Manage broker relationships, planning and executing customer appointments to drive business growth.
  • Acquire new business, leveraging expertise and market knowledge to identify opportunities.
  • Manage portfolios, anticipating renewals, analyzing performance, and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Lead team members, providing performance management, day-to-day organization, and individual development opportunities.
  • Support Underwriters in the Region, involving them in renewal preparations, customer meetings, and portfolio management.
  • Coordinate with Risk Control, reviewing portfolios, and proposing customers for review, ensuring effective risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with self-audits, OFAC audits, and other reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the claims department, discussing major claims, reviewing rejections, and ensuring effective communication with brokers and customers.

Requirements:

  • Several years of experience as an aviation underwriter, including claims handling and industrial insurance.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with flexibility, and as part of a team, demonstrating quick perception, initiative, and self-organization.
  • Business management thinking, with a focus on profit orientation and cost management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with clear and precise expression.
  • Willingness to provide sales support and travel for business.
  • Leadership skills, with experience in people management.
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, with experience handling the MS Office package.
