Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Microphysiological Systems Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying cutting-edge in vitro cell models and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology to support our project portfolio across various therapeutic indications and platforms.

The role will involve developing concepts, implementing, and qualifying advanced in vitro assays for defined applications, providing scientific support for pharmaceutical R&D projects with expertise in Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology, guiding technical staff in developing and implementing advanced in vitro cell models, participating in collaborative projects, including communication with project partners and contract research teams, and actively engaging with internal and external scientific communities.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Tissue Engineering, Biotechnology, or related fields with several years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Expert knowledge in cell biology, tissue engineering, 3D cell culture techniques, and Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technology, ideally with extensive knowledge in stem cell biology or immunology
  • Practical experience with microfluidic platforms and demonstrable development, implementation, or application of various complex in vitro cell models successfully
  • Experience in state-of-the-art analytical techniques in cell and molecular biology required for conducting complex in vitro assays, including qPCR, immunoassays, in situ hybridization, high-content imaging, microscopy (live/confocal), and TEER measurement
  • Experience in image analysis (deep learning or object-based analysis techniques) as well as handling, processing, and storing highly complex data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting working relationships and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Creativity, unconventional thinking, initiative, and a willingness to take risks
  • Ability to work independently, design, conduct, and interpret experiments, and engage with new scientific methods
  • Fluent English skills, both spoken and written
