We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team at Terma, a leading provider of mission-critical solutions for the defence and aerospace industry. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our customer's on-prem and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide cloud systems maintenance, including routine operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and upgrading.
- Assess current cloud services and infrastructure, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
- Support the integration of new technologies into existing cloud systems, including container orchestration, serverless architecture, and automation tools.
- Design, maintain, and improve infrastructure automation strategies.
- Develop customer use cases and examples to demonstrate benefits and possibilities of the cloud offering.
- Provide end-user support, including guidance on best infrastructure utilization, troubleshooting problems, and providing ad-hoc training and expertise.
- Experience managing, deploying, and scaling applications in different cloud technologies.
- Good understanding and experience in serverless architecture patterns, container orchestration, and OpenStack platform administration.
- Fluency in scripting and automation using tools like Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar CLI for cloud infrastructure management and configuration.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Deployment best practices, principles, tools, and frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in GNU/Linux system administration with multiple distributions.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues in a complex cloud environment involving multiple layers.
- Experience with Function as a Service (FaaS) and/or Service Mesh and service to service layer.
- Familiarity with cloud Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, including practical implementation of algorithms and ML in environments.
- Experience developing and deploying Cloud-Native Applications.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) stack.
- Familiarity with Dask and Apache Airflow.
- Certifications, such as CNCF, Linux Foundation, CKA/CKS, are an advantage.
This is a hybrid position, with up to 3 days/week working from home and the rest at EUMETSAT's location in Darmstadt, Germany. Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language.
The variety of tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills, together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team.
