Internship in Geostationary Satellite Data Analysis
About the Internship
EUMETSAT is seeking a highly motivated intern to support the Geostationary Ring (GEO-ring) project. The GEO-ring project aims to combine measurements from geostationary satellites into a mapped radiance product. The intern will assist in analyzing new data records to determine their suitability for addition to the GEO-ring data record.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect new satellite images and identify image anomalies using existing methodologies, including machine learning.
- Presentation of intermediate and final results.
- Write a report on the activities and achieved results.
- Support relevant day-to-day activities within the team.
Requirements
- Basic Python programming skills and experience working in a Unix/Linux environment are mandatory.
- Basic experience in Earth data analysis and a general understanding of Earth climate would be advantageous.
- Knowledge on database usage would be advantageous.
Working Conditions
The internship will require a non-disclosure agreement and potentially a basic background check for the intern, due to the sensitivity of the provided information. No salary is paid to interns who are still in studies, however a daily allowance and contribution to travel / accommodation costs may be provided.
