About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Economist to join our team at the European Central Bank. As a Senior Economist, you will play a key role in contributing to our work on fiscal policy and economic analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth analytical studies on public finance issues, including fiscal governance and budgetary developments in euro area countries/EU Member States.
- Develop and maintain statistical and econometric tools and techniques for analytical and forecasting purposes.
- Communicate complex economic analysis and policy recommendations to senior management, the Executive Board, the Governing Council, and the General Council.
- Establish and maintain relationships with counterparts within and outside the euro area, including EU national central banks, the European Commission, and the International Monetary Fund.
- A master's degree or equivalent in economics or a relevant field.
- A minimum of seven years' professional experience at the level of an economist in preparing policy-related analytical material.
- In-depth theoretical and empirical knowledge of issues relevant to fiscal policy.
- Knowledge of the main issues concerning the EU policy framework, the Stability and Growth Pact, and the economic and institutional aspects of Economic and Monetary Union.
- In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of statistical and econometric techniques used for analytical purposes.
- An advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU.
- A PhD and/or a publication record in the analysis of fiscal policy using macroeconomic models.
- Proficiency in quantitative methods and programming languages.
