Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at CSA Group as a Product Safety Engineer - Gas Appliances. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to work on compliance certification of Gas Appliances and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage certification projects concurrently, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements and achieving completion within time frames and cost deadlines.
  • Review test data and reports, and authorize the application of the CSA Mark. Prepare and sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
  • Provide clients with assistance in solving problems or failures without divulging proprietary information.
  • Evaluate and qualify companies in the administration of Certification Programs. Review customer test methods and systems, and review new or old product designs and all applicable documentation.
  • Provide technical briefings on new and existing requirements, and authorize the application and/or removal of the CSA Mark.
  • Provide technical information service to external and internal customers, including those forwarded by the Client Service Center. Liaise with customers in the design stage to ensure requirements of national/international standards are met without compromising confidentiality.
  • Work with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth.
  • Prepare project quotations for cost and time, classify products by use, environment, and function, determine applicable requirements/test/standards, determine sample requirements and method/location for testing/evaluation best suited to customers' needs.
  • Prepare Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation, including details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plan, data collection methods and tables, Job Hazard Analysis, and any other instructions.
  • Provide necessary guidance to Lab Technicians to ensure proper application of requirements and data collection methods are in line.
  • Have a good knowledge of the clauses and tests within the standards supported and can demonstrate application across multiple product types.
  • Demonstrate the ability to compile evaluation records, data, and summary test results into forms, templates, and checklists without the need for supervision.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • At least 5-8 years of professional experience in a comparable function.
  • Thorough knowledge of national/international standards and testing procedures across multiple product types in the field of gas appliances and/or gas controls.
  • Experience working with residential and commercial gas heating, cooking, hot water production, and lighting products is preferable.
  • Ability to work independently, systematically, and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Flexibility and good interpersonal skills with abilities to communicate effectively.
  • Good knowledge of German and English (written and spoken).
