At RESORBA Medical (Advanced Medical Solutions), we are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our Sutures business. This is a 12-month contract opportunity that requires a strong leader with a proven track record in complex manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent Sutures operations on the Operations Senior Leadership team, driving improvement and standardisation across the business.
- Manage all aspects of the end-to-end production process, ensuring performance delivery against targets encompassing Financial, Safety, Quality, and Customer Service.
- Promote and deliver a culture of continuous improvement, leading and driving processes for initiating and executing improvement projects.
- Reduce waste in all its forms, including time, material, and energy consumption.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and product standards, ensuring performance, reporting, and meeting customer service levels.
- Assure an optimized manufacturing operation that complies with all relevant quality and regulatory standards.
- Participate in resource planning, including S&OP processes, new product and process introduction.
- Provide leadership in EHS, including regular discussions with safety teams, risk assessments, and workplace inspections.
- Build collaborative relationships with principal contacts and external organisations, ensuring high performance, ethical behaviour, and good employee relations.
- Develop and implement the vision and long-term strategy for operations at AMS's Sutures sites.
- Safeguard all relevant certifications and deliver right-first-time quality products.
- Ensure alignment with the Company Vision and Values within the Operations function.
- Lead and coach the engineering functions to ensure process reliability while continuously improving processes and delivering cost reduction.
- Ensure the operations team supports the product development process to deliver new product launches.
- Guide, coach, and mentor employees in the execution of their roles and support their personal development.
- Hold budget-setting and overall cost centre responsibility for all relevant Operations cost centres.
- Lead by example and follow AMS's Care, Fair, Dare values.
- Deliver against all targets regarding Financial, Safety, Quality, and Customer Service.
- Comply with all safety legislation and guidelines, processes, and systems.
- Comply and maintain all relevant certifications.
- Ensure capacity for business continuity and delivery of the business unit growth expectations.
- Develop and support a site strategy for Sutures Operations, including an action plan and objectives.
- Ensure all sites operate with clearly defined and documented standard processes executed by fully trained employees.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement, driving to deliver a reduction in standard costs year on year and other improvements regarding safety, quality, and service.
- Implement performance management and personal development processes.
- Proven success in a complex manufacturing environment overseeing multiple sites.
- Experience in leading manufacturing in a regulated industry.
- Expert knowledge of continuous improvement techniques.
- Strong leadership qualities and motivational skills.
- Relevant degree (or equivalent) or higher education with appropriate experience.
- 7+ years of high-level management within a complex operations/manufacturing in a regulated industry environment.
- Experience in deploying continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent teambuilding, decision-making, and influencing skills.
- Sound experience and understanding of project management best practice.
- Ability to respond flexibly to change.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Regular travel between sites is required.
- Fluent German/English language skills are essential.
