Job Summary

Certara is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our desktop infrastructure, ensuring a seamless and efficient end-user experience for our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Desktop Engineering
    • Design and implement desktop infrastructure, including imaging, patching, firewall, and provisioning processes.
    • Develop and deploy complex software packages for Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
    • Provide guidelines, knowledge sharing, and best practices around process improvement.
    • Oversee the work of first-level Desktop Engineers, providing technical direction and supervision.
  • Project Work
    • Oversee medium to large-scale projects, ensuring successful implementation of technologies and services.
    • Mentor first-level Desktop Engineers on small to medium projects.
    • Identify new hardware and software solutions for IT or SOA business partners.
    • Conduct the request for proposal (RFP) process to identify suitable vendors and hardware/software products.
    • Identify process improvement opportunities to increase automation and efficiencies.
  • Business and Vendor Relationships
    • Act as a mentor to first-level Desktop Engineers, ensuring solutions meet organizational standards.
    • Provide mentorship support to Level 2 Desktop Support Technicians and SOA Desktop Specialists.
    • Partner with third-party vendors, acting as a point of contact for escalations, process improvements, or hardware/software updates.
  • Participate in IT Projects & Ensure Long Term Drive to Consistency of Operations
    • Drive successful implementation of technologies and services.
    • Provide constructive feedback on implementations for continuous improvement.
    • Execute projects using various technology solutions in an Agile framework.
  • Miscellaneous/Other
    • Identify and implement best practice processes in the Desktop area using ServiceNow's HAM and SAM Pro.
    • Proactively detect client problems and device noncompliance and configuration issues.
    • Develop and review weekly and monthly reports to ensure correct processes are being followed.
    Qualifications
    • Certification
      • CompTIA A+
      • CompTIA Linux+
      • Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT)
      • Apple Certified iOS Technician (ACiT)
      • AWS Architect (Desktop Virtualization)
      • MCSA / MCSE / Modern Desktop Associate
      • ITIL Foundation
    • Experience
      • At least four (4) years of experience working with Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Support, Intune, VMWare, Active Directory, Azure, Power Shell, Group Policy Object, Mac OS, Jamf, and Office 365.
      • Excellent written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with management, end-users, and third-party vendors.
      • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work, including medium to large projects.
      • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate team members.
      • Highly motivated and independent worker, with the ability to take initiative in resolving complex issues.
      • Deep technical understanding of Windows Desktop x64 operating systems.
      • Strong troubleshooting mindset, with experience in parsing event logs, using Sysinternals tools, and analyzing memory dumps.
      • Experience with large-scale desktop deployment tools and techniques in large, distributed organizations.
      • Scripting ability, with experience in PowerShell, WMI, VBScript, etc.
      • Experience with IT Maintenance operations, vulnerability remediation, and management of endpoints.
