Our client, a renowned company in the vibrant economic area of Mannheim, is seeking a Biosafety Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a part-time (20 hours/week) position with up to 50% remote work, you will have the opportunity to further develop cutting-edge technologies and optimize processes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Implement risk assessments (AR) in accordance with the German Ordinance on Biological Substances (BioStoffV) in cooperation with specialist departments and in coordination with the Biosafety Officer
  • Create documentation and complete internal templates
  • Conduct on-site inspections of work processes and spatial conditions together with medical services
  • Determine protective measures in consultation with the Biosafety Officer
  • Agree with specialist departments that the AR is documented and filed, and the signatures of the Biosafety Officer and the company doctor are obtained
  • Filing the signed copy in the cloud
  • Advise specialist departments on the creation of operating instructions in accordance with internal specifications and in coordination with the Biosafety Officer
  • Support specialist departments with the import of biological materials
  • Import permits for R&D and analytical purposes

Your Profile

  • Diploma or Master's degree with a biological focus or equivalent training with relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge and extensive practical laboratory experience in the fields of microbiology/virology
  • Knowledge of the relevant regulations, in particular the Biological Substances Ordinance (BioStoffV)
  • Knowledge of biological safety tailored to the company
  • Experience in the preparation of risk assessments according to BioStoffV in research & development and production
  • Sound experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of technical regulations for biological agents
  • Very good knowledge of German necessary and English an advantage
