Chemical Research Assistant

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chemical Research Assistant to join our team at Momentive. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development projects in the field of silicone-based materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments and collect data to support the development of new silicone-based materials
  • Develop and optimize formulations, recipes, and products in the area of elastomeres and related materials
  • Analyze and interpret data from various physical and rheological tests
  • Operate modern equipment such as TestXpert III, Micro-Systems Exponent, and Alpha-Technology Workbench
  • Manage and record data and results accurately
  • Support in the evaluation of test results and perform necessary calculations
  • Organize raw materials and lab supplies, and ensure proper disposal

Requirements:

  • Currently studying chemistry or a related field
  • Completed or in the process of completing a practical semester through a challenging internship (proof required)
  • Previous experience in laboratory work and knowledge of organic chemistry
  • Excellent analytical skills to quickly understand complex relationships
  • Self-motivated and well-organized, able to complete tasks efficiently and reliably
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, finding ways to overcome challenges
  • Curious and interested in ongoing learning and professional development
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Proficient in German language, both spoken and written, with English language skills a plus
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and proper handling of chemicals
