As a Research Associate at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, you will be working on interdisciplinary research projects focusing on techno-economic analyses in the context of decarbonization of global energy systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply high-resolution geographical models to analyze energy demand and renewable energy generation potentials.
- Analyze the optimal design and operation of energy conversion, energy transport, and energy storage infrastructures.
- Develop methods for analyzing the security of supply of integrated multi-energy systems, taking into account weather and climate influences.
- Develop approaches for the optimal use of flexibility in the energy system in the context of a supply-secure deployment and expansion planning.
- Publish results in high-class journals.
- University degree (master's or diploma) in industrial engineering, business administration, process engineering, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a comparable field of study.
- Interest in performing quantitative analyses on energy topics.
- Interest in solving large linear and mixed-integer mathematical optimization problems.
- Knowledge/experience in the implementation of computer-aided models and operation research methods is an advantage.
- Professional aptitude, a high level of commitment, good self-organization, and good English language skills.
- Domain knowledge.
- German language skills.
Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
