Job Title: Optical Systems Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Optical Systems Specialist to join our team at TOMRA. As an Optical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the development of sensor components for our sorting machines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing, evaluation, analysis, and industrial production of (spectroscopic) imaging systems, high-power laser optics, and their components.
  • Evaluation of optical parts from second sources/end-of-life (EOL).
  • Continuous improvement of optical sensor systems.
  • Definition, planning, and implementation of test tools and setups.
  • Development of optical component specifications.
  • Providing technical support to production, strategic purchasing, and quality assurance departments.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or diploma in applied physics, optical engineering, or similar field.
  • Experience with optical detectors, optical spectrometers, and analogue electronics.
  • Background in physics (laser), preferably with knowledge and experience with pulsed lasers.
  • Knowledge of optical design tools (Zemax) or circuit modelling software (LTSPICE) is an advantage.
  • Broad technical interests: keen to expand knowledge in optics, electronics, optical material classification, and software engineering.
  • Analytical and systematic approach with a drive for innovative solutions.
  • Programming skills, in particular in Python, are an advantage.
  • Fluent English, at least a basic knowledge of German.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
