EUMETSAT is offering an exciting internship opportunity in the Satellite System Ground Segments Division. As an intern, you will have the chance to work on a project that involves the development of a new data collection platform standard for EUMETSAT's GEO spacecraft fleet.

Project Overview

The project aims to study and analyze the potential performance of the new Enhanced Data Collection Platform (E-DCP) standard when applied to EUMETSAT's GEO spacecraft fleet. You will be responsible for reviewing existing technical documentation, familiarizing yourself with the current TD-16 standard and the new CGMS E-DCP standard, and generating a set of operational and non-operational scenarios to measure the performance margins of the new E-DCP.

Responsibilities
  • Review existing MSG and MTG DCP technical documentation
  • Familiarize yourself with the current TD-16 standard and the new CGMS E-DCP standard
  • Analyze the feasibility and expected performance of the new standard applied to MSG and MTG
  • Generate a set of operational and non-operational scenarios to measure the performance margins of the new E-DCP
  • Develop test tools in MatLab and/or C++ to run the selected scenarios
  • Evaluate the performance of the systems under different scenarios
  • Generate reports and Technical Notes as needed
Requirements

To be eligible for this internship, you should have a good understanding of modern signal processing techniques, space telecommunications systems, and practical experience in C, C++, or MatLab. You should also be able to work effectively in English and have the ability to take the initiative in researching ideas.

What We Offer

EUMETSAT offers a daily allowance of EUR 25 per day, relocation cost reimbursement of up to EUR 1,000, and accommodation cost reimbursement of up to EUR 500 per month. Interns are responsible for providing their own health and accident insurance and for finding their own accommodation in Darmstadt.
