Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Software Engineering Director to lead our dynamic team. As the head of engineering, you'll oversee a diverse group of software engineers covering frontend, backend, security, architecture, and infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to drive agile product development culture, foster innovation, and empower your team to achieve technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Agile Product Development Culture:
  • • Champion value flow, continuous delivery, and fast feedback loops to ensure efficiency and high-quality outputs.
  • • Work closely with the engineering unit to refine development practices, uphold quality standards, and cultivate a culture of technical excellence.
  • • Hold the engineering unit accountable for adhering to established standards and practices, driving continuous improvement.
  • Leadership:
  • • Oversee a diverse team of more than 20 software engineers.
  • • Build and manage leadership structures within the engineering unit that enable further scaling of our organisation.
  • • Set clear goals, values, and expectations for our engineering competence, drive recruitment efforts to attract top talent, and manage the unit's budget to support growth and innovation.
  • • Act as a mentor and coach, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, enabling your unit members to reach their highest potential.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • • At least six years of successful experience managing and scaling diverse teams in agile organisations.
  • • Strong track record in recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • • Proven ability to mentor and motivate software engineers working in cross-functional agile teams.
  • • Significant experience as a software engineer, with a deep understanding of software design practices, architecture, agile principles, and DevOps best practices.
  • • Fluent English and B2 level German language proficiency.
