About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team at Discovery Life Sciences. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for conducting molecular analysis of individual tumor tissue to develop personalized cancer medicines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory procedures and data collection with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including PCR machines, microtomes, and centrifuges
  • Execute assignments according to established protocols and procedures
  • Review raw data for quality and consistency, and perform basic statistics evaluation and visual data presentation
  • Prepare chemical solutions and buffers as required, and manage concurrent tasks in varying stages of completion
  • Provide assistance and support to junior team members, and maintain an accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebook
  • Work in a regulated GCP environment with a Laboratory Information and Management Software (LIMS)
  • Participate in general lab maintenance, including cleaning freezers, shared lab space, and equipment, and stocking shared reagents and consumables
  • Participate in the establishment of new assays and devices as part of the validation process
Requirements
  • Completed vocational training as BTA/CTA/MTLA (or similar) with at least 5 years relevant work experience, or a bachelor's degree in life sciences with educational laboratory experience and at least 5 years relevant work experience
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality, both in actual laboratory practice and in documentation
  • Excellent laboratory skills, including proficiency in pipetting, documentation, and procedure
  • Experience converting measurements and preparing chemical solutions and buffers
  • Ability to understand protocols and perform protocols with consistency
  • Basic experience or proficiency with laboratory equipment and laboratory analysis, such as DNA/RNA extractions, PCRs, NGS, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English language
