Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Verden. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures that ensure a safe working environment for our employees.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director H&S DACH and other H&S team members to ensure effective teamwork and communication.
- Design and deliver health and safety training programs for employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance activities to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Foster a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement by working with management and employees.
- Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are well-maintained, used correctly, and easily accessible.
- Stay informed about the latest health and safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Help develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness for potential emergencies.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on health and safety issues, addressing concerns and promoting best practices.
- Report on health and safety performance metrics to senior management, offering insights and recommending improvements for better safety outcomes.
- Minimum of 5+ years of proven experience in a similar role within Food Manufacturing, Assembly, Chemical, or Consumer Products industries.
- Certified as an occupational health and safety officer (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit) under BGN (Berufsgenossenschaft Nahrungsmittel).
- Experience in fire protection processes and handling biological agents is desirable.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership skills, with the ability to effectively motivate a team.
- Strong communication skills, capable of tailoring language and information to various audiences.
- Proficiency in business English and German is mandatory.
- Proficient in designing and delivering effective health and safety training programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with a diverse team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
