Validation Specialist

Role Summary

The Validation Engineer is responsible for ensuring the manufactured Power Management IC meets functional specifications in a lab environment. This involves understanding the IC's functional specification, devising validation techniques, and creating a test plan. The engineer will set up test benches, including hardware board design, and code test cases in software. The developed test suite will be executed, data gathered, and analyzed, with validation reports created within agreed time scales.

The engineer will contribute to achieving a strategic business goal: developing automation for the validation test suite for Digital Power products in the Performance Power Business Division of Renesas Electronics. To succeed, the engineer must be skilled in lab automation techniques, hardware design, and software reuse methodologies.

The engineer will be part of a cross-site Validation Automation Group, reporting to a local lead. Teamwork, communication, innovation, and technical leadership are essential for success in this role.

• University degree in Electronics Engineering or a related field
• 2-5 years of post-silicon bench validation experience
• Good knowledge of power management applications in consumer electronics
• Knowledge of voltage regulators (Buck, Buck-Boost, LDO), key parameters, and measurement methods
• Lab automation expertise, with the ability to propose improvements to existing manual techniques
• Board-level analog and digital circuit design expertise for PCB schematic creation
• Proficiency in Python programming for lab automation hardware environments
• Ability to debug unexpected issues and identify root causes
• Ability to work with minimal instructions
• Goals-oriented, with a focus on delivering results on-time under tight schedules
