Laboratory Technician Molecular Biology and Cell Culture

Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician Molecular Biology and Cell Culture to join our team at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for cultivating cell lines and primary cells, performing genetic engineering tasks, and supporting laboratory organization.

Your Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and maintain cell lines and primary cells in a controlled environment
  • Perform genetic engineering tasks, including transfection and transduction, using Lenti- and Adenoviral vectors
  • Extract and dissect primary neurons from rodents, ensuring precision and accuracy
  • Apply immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays to analyze biological samples
  • Support laboratory organization, including equipment maintenance and inventory management
  • Document workflows and adhere to safety and institutional policies
  • Methodically teach doctoral students and support in preparation of experiments
Your Profile
  • Molecular Biology education as Biologielaborant, BTA, or Laboratory Assistant, or BSc in Biology
  • FELASA certificate and experience in extraction and dissection of tissue from rodents
  • In-depth practical experience with cell cultures, with a minimum of 2 years in a laboratory setting
  • Experience with genetic engineering techniques and work in facilities at biosafety level S2 is highly desirable
  • General interest in neurobiology and biomaterials
  • Ability to work in a precise, careful, and well-structured manner with recurring tasks
  • Very good command of spoken and written English
  • German language skills are considered an asset
  • Basic computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Confident and friendly demeanor, with the ability to work in a team in a multinational environment
