Senior Data Engineer

About the Role:

As a Senior Data Engineer at BayWa r.e. Solar Trade Holding GmbH, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and architectures to support data-driven decision-making.

This role requires a deep understanding of data engineering principles, cloud platforms, and data warehousing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to process large volumes of data efficiently
  • Optimize our current data architectures to support data integration, storage, and retrieval
  • Manage Azure-based infrastructure to support data engineering needs and optimize cloud resources for cost and performance
  • Design, develop, and maintain 'Infrastructure as Code' scripts using tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, etc.
  • Work closely with data analysts and other business stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide data solutions
  • Implement data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of the data
  • Implement monitoring solutions to track the health and performance of cloud infrastructure and data pipelines
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards through automated checks and policies
  • Guide and mentor junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data engineering processes, architectures, and workflows

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on data warehousing, ETL processes, and related fields
  • High technical and digital affinity, and good experience in SQL, Python, ETL tools, cloud platforms (Azure), and data warehousing solutions
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Team player who works enthusiastically about their work, open-minded, and responsible
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus
