Overview
Daksta is actively seeking a skilled Design Manager to lead the design efforts for a major data centre construction project in Germany. As a key member of our Design & Engineering team, you'll drive the design process for this critical project, ensuring it meets all requirements and achieves excellence in both design and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design Delivery:
- Oversee the complete design process for the data centre project, from defining the project brief and aligning with stakeholders to managing and reviewing external design vendors.
- Work closely with Project and Cost Managers to ensure the design aligns with the project brief, budget, and schedule through all phases of construction and handover to Operations.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with company standards, local regulations, and the project brief.
- Provide regular progress updates to senior Design & Engineering, construction members, and project managers.
- Address and resolve any design issues promptly, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Technical & Process Improvement:
- Perform specialist reviews within your area of expertise.
- Develop and implement new tools, processes, and procedures to enhance design management best practices specifically for data centre construction.
- Promote innovation in design to improve reliability, constructability, and sustainability, in line with our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues within other departments and globally within our Design & Engineering teams to ensure best practices and consistency.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams for mission-critical environments, particularly data centres, or similar sectors such as pharmaceuticals, hospitals, oil & gas, or energy.
- Background in roles such as design consultancy, client engineering, site engineering, or contractor engineering.
- Strong strategic thinking, quantitative, and analytical skills.
- Ability to excel in multinational, interdisciplinary, and culturally diverse teams.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Proficiency in English; German language skills are beneficial.
