Employment Navigator Specialist

The Pre-Release Employment Navigator is a grant-funded position at Tallahassee Community College, housed within the Department of Corrections. This role may cover multiple institutions based on workload and proximity. The Pre-Release Employment Navigator services will be delivered through cell-front and/or in congregate settings.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate in-person and virtual workshops and training sessions on employability and life skills.
- Administer and interpret assessments to support inmate employment readiness.
- Maintain and provide documentation of services delivered to inmates.
- Establish connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions, including pre-release job search, recruitment, and connections to post-release training and employment.
Education and Experience: An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, corrections, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of administrative principles and practices; knowledge of office procedures and practices; knowledge of methods of data collection; knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication; proficient computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Word software; ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to utilize problem-solving techniques; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and complete work assignments with accuracy; ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with others; ability to work in a secured prison setting; ability to work with inmates; ability to work within the vicinity of officials that carry guns; and ability to work with users of varying technical expertise.
