Cyber Security Architect: Enhancing Operational Resilience

At Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY, we are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Architect to join our team. This is a key position that will play a critical role in enhancing operational resilience within the federated cloud infrastructure of the Helmholtz Association.

The successful candidate will contribute to establishing optimal IT security for numerous distributed components of the Helmholtz-wide research landscape, enabling scientists to conduct their research in a secure, reliable, and sovereign manner. This role highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in the realm of Cyber Security through the Helmholtz-wide IT platform HIFIS.

About your role:

  • In collaboration with partners in the Helmholtz Association and HIFIS, you will co-design a security concept for research-oriented federated services at Helmholtz sites and partners
  • You will co-develop and adapt security-relevant procedures and policies suitable for implementation at research facilities in Helmholtz
  • You will map the jointly developed concepts and procedures to the conditions at DESY in close collaboration with the DESY IT-security department

About you:

  • Masters degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or related subject, or comparable knowledge
  • Basic knowledge in the field of cyber security, and willingness to develop this knowledge further, especially for distributed environments
  • Knowledge in the development and implementation of IT solutions
  • Basic knowledge of a common programming language and shell programming

This position is part of the Helmholtz ROCK-IT project, which focuses on pioneering automated measurements in catalysis using synchrotron radiation techniques. The offered position offers an attractive salary according to the regulations of the TV-AVH (approximately €80,000 - €120,000 per annum), flexible working hours, variable part-time, job-sharing models, and participation in mobile work up to 50%.
