Job Summary

The Athletic Trainer position at Tallahassee Community College is a part-time role that reports directly to the Director of Athletics. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with injury risk factors associated with competitive athletics and implementing a comprehensive athletic injury program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer overall health care to student-athletes, including physical examinations and daily care, prevention, recognition, rehabilitation, and administration of injuries.
  • Conduct initial evaluations of injuries, provide first aid and emergency care, and refer student-athletes to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment.
  • Coordinate and schedule physical examinations, medical referrals, and follow-up visits to determine student-athletes' ability to practice and compete.
  • Maintain a sterile environment when indicated and apply protective or injury preventive devices as needed.
  • Provide healthcare information and counsel athletes, coaches, administrators, and parents on physical, psychological, and emotional health and well-being.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in sports medicine, athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology, physiology, human anatomy, or a related area.
  • State of Florida athletic training licensure and certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certifications (NATABOC).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of evaluating, advising, and treating athletes to assist in recovery from injury, avoid injury, or maintain peak physical fitness.
  • Knowledge of processes and standards used in the health care industry.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal care.
