The Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt is a leading institution in the field of machine learning, and we are currently seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral research associate to join our team.

Our Chair of Reliable Machine Learning is part of the Mathematical Institute for Machine Learning and Data Science (MIDS), which is funded by the High-Tech Agenda of Bavaria as part of the consortium Resource Aware Artificial Intelligence for Future Technologies. Our research focuses on mathematically analyzing machine learning algorithms with a particular emphasis on questions of stability, computability, and robustness of methods from Deep Learning.

We offer a full-time position starting May 15, 2025, with an initial contract duration of 3 years and the possibility for extension. The salary will be according to the pay grade E 13 TV-L, approximately €6,119 per month. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD/doctoral degree in mathematics, preferably with a focus on one of the following topics: Machine Learning, probability theory, real and functional analysis, or information-based complexity. Experience in programming and machine learning is highly desirable but not mandatory. Good German language skills are not required but highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent mathematical research in the area of machine learning, contributing to current research projects, supporting the acquisition of new research projects, establishing the new Master's degree program in Data Science, teaching courses related to mathematics and machine learning, and participating in conferences and publications.
