At Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientific Researcher to join our team in the Institute of Fluid Dynamics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a modularized platform that incorporates a magnetic levitation system into a rare-earth containing particle-laden two-phase system. This project, funded by BMBF Datipilot innovation sprints, aims to improve the sustainability and energy efficiency of industrial processes.

The Research Assistant - Electromagnetic Separation will work closely with our team to design, construct, and experiment with an apparatus that is modularized in magnetic levitation system, measurement system, and two-phase system. The candidate will also implement microelectrode array-based electric impedance/resistivity tomography measurement system module and calibrate it with optical imaging.

The Junior Research Scientist - Innovative Measuring Systems will advance modeling the physical picture of the two-phase system within magnetic levitation system. The candidate will correlate measurement system data with key parameters for rare-earth separation and acquire supervised machine learning knowledge to implement and evaluate AI-based data processing systems.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with strong experimental skills and a solid understanding of fluid dynamics, simulation methods, and related areas. Prior knowledge of electric impedance or resistivity tomography is a strong advantage.
