The role of a Road Maintenance Technician is a challenging and rewarding career that requires a strong work ethic and a passion for working outdoors. As a Road Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including:
- Maintenance of roads and highways, including repairs and renovations
- Operation and maintenance of heavy machinery and equipment
- Winter maintenance, including snow removal and salting
- Summer maintenance, including grass cutting and vegetation management
- Reinforcement and repair of bridges and other infrastructure
You will work in a team environment, collaborating with other technicians and supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of road maintenance activities. As a Road Maintenance Technician, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a variety of areas, including:

About the ApprenticeshipThe apprenticeship program is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as a Road Maintenance Technician. You will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and supervisors, and will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a variety of areas, including:
- Heavy machinery operation and maintenance
- Road construction and repair techniques
- Winter maintenance strategies and best practices
- Summer maintenance strategies and best practices
- Vegetation management and control
You will also have the opportunity to earn a professional certification in road maintenance and repair, and will be eligible for promotion to senior technician or supervisor roles upon completion of the apprenticeship program.
RequirementsTo be eligible for this apprenticeship opportunity, you must:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Be physically fit and able to work in a variety of weather conditions
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be willing to work in a team environment and follow instructions
- Have a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
