Your Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As a PhD position holder, you will be responsible for analyzing and integrating diverse biological data from the field of plant sciences using cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel tools and algorithms in the area of omics data analysis and integration
  • Conduct publications in international journals and travel to international conferences
  • Co-supervise Bachelor and Master students

Your Profile:

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's degree in bioinformatics, biology, or a related field, with experience in the relevant field. You should have knowledge in programming languages (Java, Rust, C/C++) and statistical analysis using R/BioConductor/python. Experience with the analysis and integration of high-throughput data such as NGS, single-cell data, metabolite profiling, and/or plant phenotyping data is essential. Experience with the application of AI for data analysis and interpretation is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory.

The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 65% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60% of a monthly salary as special payment ('Christmas bonus'). Pay higher than the basic pay may be possible.
