Senior Backend PHP Developer

SCAYLE Payment is a company driven by the passion to develop the best tech products. We are currently searching for an experienced and passionate Senior Backend PHP Developer (m/f/d) for our Payment Team.

The Payment team is responsible for the complete payment lifecycle, from customers first placing their orders within the Checkout to handling the refund of a returned item weeks later. Between these two points, the team interacts with a multitude of internal and external players, spanning from internal business to other tech teams and multiple payment providers in a variety of countries. The applications the Payment team maintains span from high traffic and fault-tolerant API hubs to security-conscious and reliable backend processing engines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust PHP applications within the payment lifecycle
  • Implement and advocate for extreme programming practices such as Slicing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Pair Programming, Mob Programming, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Integration
  • Work closely with legacy code, improving and refactoring to enhance scalability and maintainability
  • Ensure all code meets high standards of quality and adheres to best practices, contributing to a sustainable development pace

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years experience with PHP. We use PHP 8.3
  • Practical experience developing REST APIs
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL, Redis, or equivalent data storage
  • Experience working with messaging systems like SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
  • Strong experience with git
  • Self-motivated and responsible working
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and acting
  • Passionate and eager to learn
  • Experience/understanding of maintaining cloud applications and site reliability engineering
  • Software architecture experience/understanding: event-driven architecture, hexagonal architecture, microservice architecture
