Claims Specialist

As a Claims Specialist at Munich Re, you will play a crucial role in managing claims in casualty and property insurance. Your responsibilities will include examining coverage issues, setting adequate reserves, and investigating loss mitigation potentials.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Manage claims in casualty and property insurance, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Examine coverage issues in primary insurance and reinsurance policies, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
- Set adequate reserves for losses within the authority level, ensuring financial stability.
- Investigate loss mitigation potentials, collaborating with external experts to minimize losses.
- Directly interact with large corporate clients and brokers, providing expert advice on coverage and indemnification.
- Regularly communicate with internal stakeholders, such as underwriting and corporate underwriting, on loss development and trends.
- Instruct external experts, including law firms, loss adjusters, and forensic accountants, and monitor the quality of their services.
- Support the coordination of larger losses and events, ensuring seamless execution.
- Support Claims Managers with administration of claims, including file maintenance, payment processing, and usage of applicable tools and systems.
- Proactively adhere to internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and transparency.
Your Profile
- University degree and at least 2 years of experience as an insurance professional, preferably in claims or accounting.
- Willingness to learn and work proactively and independently in a changing environment.
- Enjoy the challenge of legal and technical aspects of insurance claims.
- Solution and service-oriented attitude, confident demeanor, and high level of commitment.
- Advanced knowledge of Munich Re's claims systems, including FS-RI, ECF2, UEM, EAP, and related software, or willingness to acquire such skills.
- Strong additional IT affinity or data-driven mindset.
- Very good English language skills, as most communication is in English. Additional languages are a plus.
