You will be responsible for the successful delivery of colocation data center projects in your region. This includes working with design engineering stakeholders, construction, operations, and commissioning teams to ensure that the data centers meet quality and performance levels. You will also be responsible for evaluating mechanical and electrical systems and making data-driven decisions to ensure that they meet our guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with colo vendors to review designs for new data centers in your region, including design input, submittal review, and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.

• Act as a resident engineer during new colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover.

• Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation for site/equipment failures.

• Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.

• Provide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.

• Support operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades that improve availability/efficiency.

• Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.

• Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.

• Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.

• Lead complex root cause analysis for equipment failures.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced data center mechanical electrical engineer to join our team. You will have a strong background in industrial or commercial engineering, with experience working on complex projects in multiple geographical regions. You will also have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical engineering, with a focus on data center infrastructure.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and heat exchangers.

• Experience working with design engineering stakeholders, construction, operations, and commissioning teams to deliver data center projects.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
