About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Architect to join our team at SAP. As a key member of our PlusOne Infrastructure Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and building the technology foundation of our IaaS platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy infrastructure architecture for PlusOne across the infrastructure stack, aligning with customer business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Author blueprints and whitepapers to document and share exceptional architectural work, contributing to our documentation and knowledge base.
  • Identify and resolve customer blockers by applying technical expertise, supporting discussions with stakeholders to ensure maximum value from PlusOne investments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and business lines, representing the customer's perspective and collaborating with Engineering teams to resolve challenges.
  • Deliver valuable feedback and insights from customers and business lines to the Engineering teams, promoting continuous service improvement and innovation.

Requirements

  • Degree in Applied Sciences, preferred field of study: Computer Science or related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies.
  • Systematic approach to complex challenges, maintaining a strong sense of ownership and motivation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively manage critical situations through presentations.
  • Deep understanding of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and data center services, with proficiency in systems integration to ensure seamless operation within the existing infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of the entire cloud computing stack, including SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OpenStack, and knowledge of virtualization technologies for hardware optimization.
  • Experience in evaluating hardware and software, engaging with vendors, coordinating proof of concepts, and preparing decision documents for senior management.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux, open-source hypervisors, network equipment, or storage systems would be a big advantage.
  • Experience with Capacity Planning and mapping to infrastructure would be a big advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills and conceptual thinking.
  • A high degree of personal maturity, goal orientation, and the ability to work effectively in a geographically distributed team of highly technical design architects.
