About the Role

As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist at Siemens Energy, you will be part of the Operations & Maintenance team at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station. Your primary responsibility will be to provide customer support through planned and reactive maintenance activities on customer's assets as per our contractual requirements. You will work closely with the team to plan and carry out work efficiently and safely, ensuring all records are kept up to date. You will adhere to SHEQ and Siemens Energy processes and procedures continuously. This is a challenging position that requires a solid electrical engineering background and the ability to work in a flexible working environment.

- 37 hour working week. Mon – Thur 08:00 – 16:30, Fri 08:00 – 13:00
- After an appropriate period of training and qualifications, you will also provide emergency call out response as part of the maintenance team (part of a rotating Standby Rota for 1 site with substantial financial benefits, 1 week in 4 format)

How You'll Make an Impact

- Ensure compliance with Work Specifications, Local Management Instructions, statutory Requirements and Health & Safety policies
- Conduct safety monitoring of both Siemens Energy and contractor's staff as the need arises
- Plan, develop and implement maintenance routines for all plant and equipment within scope of the contract
- Assist in the development of existing and new processes to improve the quality of service provided to the customer
- Ensure a safe working environment is provided at all times, and acquire or develop any vital documentation such as, Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Plan day to day work, anticipate problems and accomplish tasks to high standards of quality and time
- Take part in a 24/7 365 day per year standby rota and provide flexible support whenever possible to support others who are on call (if required)
- Undertake all relevant training and practical experience as required under other customers/sites for their high voltage safety rules and maintain that authorization.
- Investigate and resolve faults and prepare, reporting where required to align with QA and customers' requirements.
- Interpret test and inspection reports and initiate appropriate action
- Ensure that all maintenance documentation is completed and uploaded on Maintenance Management System as specified in O&M procedures
- Ensure all work is carried out to a satisfactory quality and technical standard
- Complete weekly time sheet for supervising workload
- Carry out other duties within your competence as directed by the appropriate supervisor
- Provide a technical, engineering and advisory service to other staff in areas where you have particular expertise or experience
- Dedication to Siemens Energy initiatives including excellent call handling and voice mail skills
- Maintenance management and resource planning and provision
- Safe disposal of equipment in line with company and customer guidelines
- Asset Management Planning – apply life costing principles, produce business case for assets
- Implementing Asset Management Plans – take ownership for assets, control operations, maintain / optimize assets
- Risk Management and Performance Improvement – assess and manage risks, assure quality of AM processes, monitor and review progress and performance, learn from incidents
- Asset Knowledge Management - define asset requirements, specify, select and integrate AM information systems
- Liaise with stakeholders on asset related topics – make appropriate AM information available for decision making
- Comply with asset policies in regards to health, safety, environment and security provisions

What You Bring

- Preferably HNC/HND qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and ideally have experience within a maintenance environment on industrial sites or electrical substations.
- A good understanding of electrical systems and practical experience working on electrical and mechanical installations.
- Be capable of working under your own initiative and able to work to tight timescales.
- IT Literacy (MS Office including MS Project etc.)
- Good communication & interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experience with successful team working abilities
- Strong understanding of H & S legislation and Risk Management Processes
