About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Computer Scientist or similar to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Cologne. As a key member of our Institute of Software Technology, you will play a crucial role in developing innovative solutions for earth system modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement adaptive mesh algorithms for large-scale scientific simulations
  • Develop interfaces to simulation environments and extend adaptive mesh data structures for GPU usage
  • Collaborate with project partners to integrate adaptive meshes into their simulation applications
  • Optimize and evaluate developed algorithms, and conduct benchmark studies on high-performance computers
Requirements
  • Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience in C/C++ software development, numerical simulation, and parallelization frameworks (MPI, OpenMP)
  • Knowledge of GPU programming (CUDA) and software engineering tools (Git)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
