Role Overview

As a Senior Consultant in our Fund Accounting team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the operational readiness of funds and assisting the wider EMEA New Business Team. You will be responsible for leading the rollout of new business for new and existing clients, highlighting the need for and assisting with the development of system enhancements and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical and subject matter expertise on the team, handling fund activity and specific fund requirements.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the industry and Northern Trust's systems, infrastructure, and process data flows.
  • Minimize errors in all deliverables at all stages.
  • Demonstrate learning and experience.
  • Attend regular meetings with Divisional Managers, Section Managers, and Team Leaders.
  • Focus on resolving complex transitions, interpreting policies, guidelines, and processes.
  • Identify and respond to operational risk throughout the business unit.
  • Train fund accountants and supervisors on NAV process and reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven understanding of multi-region fund structures in a financial services NAV environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve multiple daily deadlines for client deliverables.
  • Knowledge of regulatory regulations pertaining to Mutual Funds, Open-Ended Investment Companies (OEICs), and close-ended funds.
  • Financial instrument knowledge - Traditional asset types, Derivatives, and Private Capital Market Assets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for consulting with the Fund Accounting team and other Internal Departments, Trustees/Depositaries, Custodians, Auditors, and Fund Management Companies.
  • Strong communication, first-class presentation, and internal and external client-servicing skills.
  • Hold an accounting, business, or mathematical qualification in university.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) of one or multiple activities with at least 8 years of relevant core FA experience.
  • Fluent in English.

IT Skills

  • Excellent desktop, IT, and systems skills.
  • Experience of SunGard Invest One is considered a key advantage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.

  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, consultative, communication, and judgment skills.
  • Ability to work in a structured pattern, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
