Job Description

The Fraunhofer Society is a leading applied research organization with a strong focus on innovation and technology transfer. As a Research Scientist in the Optical Microsystems group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology ISIT, you will be part of a dynamic team working on the design, development, and manufacture of MEMS components and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop optical components and systems, including MEMS micromirrors and waveguides, for various applications.
  • Conceive component designs and manufacturing processes, and accompany the processing of components in the clean room.
  • Characterize manufactured systems and establish necessary measuring equipment.
  • Manage development projects, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and progress monitoring.
  • Document and communicate results to group leaders and customers.
Requirements
  • Master's or doctorate degree in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, or comparable disciplines.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: simulation and design of MEMS devices, manufacturing processes in microtechnology, project management, customer and project acquisition, optical microsystems.
  • Good language skills in German and English.
  • A high degree of initiative and commitment, ability to quickly familiarize with new tasks and take responsibility in a team.
  • Enthusiasm for technical and scientific topics with a strong application focus.
