Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled (Senior) Carbon Analyst to join our Trading Analysis & Algorithms department in Hamburg. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting commercially relevant fundamental and quantitative analysis to support traders and develop emissions market trading strategies.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting in-depth analysis of the emissions market, including EU ETS and UK ETS, to identify key drivers and regime shifts
  • Developing price views and sensitivity analyses to support traders in making informed decisions
  • Further developing our fundamental and statistical markets modelling to improve our analysis output
  • Playing an active role in developing and automating routines, procedures, and applications for analysis-related information and data
  • Leading and mentoring junior analysts to ensure the success of our team
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong academic background with a Master's degree or higher in a relevant quantitative subject
  • 2+ years' experience in emissions market analysis in a commercial or trading environment
  • Experience with fundamental and quantitative models for the emissions market, and ability to steer business-driven model development and policy analysis
  • Strong statistical, analytical, and programming skills, ideally in Python
  • Fluency in English, with additional languages advantageous
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
